Buying Local Foods

Those who have tasted local food know how much better it is than most supermarket food. The truth is, local food tastes better and is fresher than food that's trucked thousands of miles to your plate. On top of that, buying local food supports your local economy, helps keep family farmers on the land, and is better for the environment and natural landscape.

Now you can pledge your support for local food by signing the FoodRoutes "Buy Local" Challenge. You don't need to send any money; just pledge to spend money each week on local food at the farmers market, CSA, farm, or grocery store of your choosing. The Challenge will let you make a customized online pledge to support local foods.
