Sherwood Creek Demo Forest
A recently revised Sherwood Creek Demonstration brochure is out and available for the public to view. The brochure summarizes forestry data and information on a unique outdoor learning environment. Brochures may be picked up WSU Stevens County Extension at 985 S. Elm, Colville.

Chewelah, Washington

To better communicate, demonstrate and showcase forest management systems as a result of United States Forest Service CROP research findings we have established a readily accessible field demonstration forest. The Sherwood Creek Demonstration Forest, located seven miles east of Chewelah, Washington was set-up on NIPF lands to act as an outdoor demonstration and learning lab. The site is well located, easily accessible and contains stand structures similar to those found on the CROP research sites. The demonstration forest is bordered by National Forest and Department of Natural Resources trust lands, making it an ideal setting for a demonstration area. Much of what is learned from research on CROP stands has application for technology transfer through the Sherwood Creek Demonstration Forest.

The demonstration forest has been set-up through the help of various individuals, consultants and agencies. A core area was delineated, marked, inventoried and subsequently treated to reflect various harvesting regimes. The demonstration area also has unique forest health, nutrition, harvesting logistic and wildlife demonstration opportunities.

A self-guided brochure is available and will act as a framework for providing forest management information to the public. We are proud to have formally dedicate the Sherwood Creek Demonstration forest on October 21, 2000.

The Sherwood Creek Demonstration Forest is available for group tours and educational events by contacting WSU Stevens County Extension at 509.684.2588.

Extension Forestry from Washington State University is committed to providing educational opportunities to private forest landowners in Washington State.
