What
is a Food Safety Advisor?
Food
Safety Advisors are people interested in food safety and food preservation.
The purpose of WSU's Food Safety Advisor is to extend WSU and USDA
Research based gardening techniques and guidelines to residents
of the county. They volunteer their time in the community to help
others learn about food preservation, storage, and safety.
How
to become a Food Safety Advisor?
The first step to becoming a Food Safety Advisor is to complete
approximately 40 hours of training in food safety, preservation,
storage and teaching methodology through WSU Cooperative Extension,
Stevens County. In return, they commit 30 hours of their time per
year by providing in-depth information to the public through workshops,
and one-on-one contacts.
