One of the best things about summer is that it is fair time. Visit our website for information and deadlines for regional fairs.

July 31: NE WA Fair Zoo Barn Superintendents are hosting a Showing Clinic for Zoo Barn Animals at 10 am in Chewelah.

July 31: 4-H members with dog or cat projects are invited to attend State Qualifying Dog and Cat Judging Contests today from 6-8 pm at the NE WA Fairgrounds.

August 1: Nominations for Outstanding 4-H Leader are due to the Extension office today. Outstanding Leaders will be recognized at the NE WA Fair and the 4-H Awards Banquet.

August 2 and 9: WSU Master Gardeners will be available to answer your gardening and insect questions from 9 to 11 am during the Master Gardener Plant Clinic at the NE WA Farmer's Market on the corner of Astor and Main in Colville. You are encouraged to bring samples.

August 7: A second Western Games State-Qualifying event will be held today at the NE WA Fairgrounds at 5 pm.

August 16: Free Pressure Canner Testing will be offered from 9 am to 12 noon at the NE WA Farmer's on the corner of Astor and Main in Colville. Dial gauge canners should be tested yearly for accuracy.

August 21: 4-H State-Qualifying Food Contests will be held today at the NE WA Fair. Registrations are due by August 1 and are in the fair premium book.

August 21-24: WSU Master Gardeners have put in a small demonstration vegetable garden on the NE WA Fairgrounds. They will be available during the NE WA Fair to answer gardening questions and talk about the garden.

September 4: Forest Stewardship Coached Planning course starts today in Colville. At the end of this eight-week course you will have a management plan for your forest land.
